However, The Upper West Side’s history didn’t begin with the invention of television.  Originally called The Bloomingdale (from the Dutch), the neighborhood was a choice location for many farmers and wealthy families who wanted to move further uptown.  By the mid 1800’s Bloomingdale Road (for which the location was named after) was renamed Broadway and the best known street in New York City had its name.

The 1990’s offered a renewal for apartments on The Upper West Side (like many other neighborhoods in Manhattan at the time).  New bars, restaurants, and even comedy clubs became an essential part of the landscape and brought in new artists, professionals, and families.
