Battery Park City

Battery Park City is bounded on the east by West Street, and on the west, north, and south it’s surrounded by Hudson River. It is named for its adjacent Battery Park. The neighborhood of 92 acres stands on a land, created from the dirt and rocks excavated during the construction of the World Trade Center and other construction projects. The majority of the residential area of Battery Park City lies in the South part of the area, which is divided into three sections. Getaway Plaza is a hi-rise complex, and the "Rector Place Residential Neighborhood" and the "Battery Place Residential Neighborhood" have mostly low-rise buildings.The area is very convenient for those looking for a quiter neighborhood in the city.The distinctive small streets of downtown Manhattan inspire cozy feelings of togetherness and comfort.

What makes this area family oriented is Stuyvesant High School, also known as Stuy, which is considered one of the most competative public high schools in the whole country, specializing in math and scince.The reputation of Stuy derives from the fact that it sends more students to prestigous univeristies country-wide than any other public or private school in the US.

 Not many neighborhoods in the City can account for as many waterfront parks as Battery Park City has. Being a rare sighting in Manhattan, the parks stretching along the area are one of the selling points of the neighborhood. The Esplanade is just one of the renowned parks in Battery Park City. With its tree lines alleys, The Esplanade, provides the perfect view of sightings like the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Hudson River, New York Harbor and the New Jersey shoreline.
